The City
Tokyo, Japan, has a long and illustrious history that dates back over 400 years. Tokyo, then known as "Edo," had already grown to a population of over a million people by the mid-1700s. This busy megacity is well recognised as one of the world's most attractive and popular tourist destinations, owing to its thousands of famous attractions. It should come as no surprise that Tokyo, like the rest of Japan, is famous for its seafood. Because Japan is surrounded by water, seafood is the most readily available food. Japan consumes 8% of the world's seafood, according to a Yale report. Sushi, one of the world's most famous dishes, is a product of Japan. Shibuya Crossing is one of Tokyo's most well-known tourist attractions. It is known as the world's busiest junction. The busy crossroads has been featured in several films, including Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift. The crossing is so congested that traffic in all directions comes to a halt to allow pedestrians to cross the street.
